Do I need a license to sell Real Estate?

In most cases, if you represent or assist someone other than yourself, you will be required to have a state license, although there are a few specific exceptions.
A license is necessary not just when selling real estate, but also when leasing or to receive payment for a referral.

Is my Illinois Real Estate License good in other states?

Illinois has reciprocal licenses with some states, like Indiana and Wisconsin. However, reciprocal states require you to take their own licensing exam and have a sponsoring broker licensed in that state. For details, contact the licensing authority in the state that interests you.

What is the difference between a Salesperson's license and a Broker's?

A Broker has all ability to perform real estate transactions just like a Salesperson. However, a Broker can also own a Real Estate corporation, manage or own a Real Estate office, and hire and manage other licensees.
A Broker can also hold escrow monies, while a Salesperson may not.
